A car smashed through the window of a 7-Eleven in West Babylon on Wednesday afternoon, sending two people to the hospital, Suffolk police said.

The car, a Hyundai Sonata, pinned a customer to the cash-register counter at about 3:15 p.m. inside the store on Straight Path, police said, and both he and an employee were taken to the Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of nonlife-threatening injuries.

It was not immediately clear why the driver, an 87-year-old woman, struck the store, but police do not believe any criminality was involved.
