Charles Giardinello, of Nesconset, in critical condition after hit-and-run motorcycle crash, police say

A motorcyclist was critically injured in a hit-and-run crash in Ronkonkoma Sunday night, police said.

Charles Giardinello, 40, of Nesconset, was brought to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was in critical condition late Sunday night following the collision that occurred about 7:25 p.m., Suffolk police said.

Suffolk Detectives said Giardinello was riding a motorcycle east on Portion Road, just east of Avenue B, when his motorcycle struck a pickup truck traveling west

The truck fled north on Avenue B, and is believed to have sustained damage to the passenger side doors and bed.
