A bicyclist was killed in Holtsville on Friday night after being hit by a car, police said.

Christopher Chizzoniti, 20, of Holbrook, was driving east on Express Drive South when his 2011 Hyundai hit the cyclist, Steven Preitz, 42, who was in the right lane about 10 p.m., Suffolk County police said Saturday.

The accident occurred just west of Morris Avenue, police said.

Preitz was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Chizzoniti was not hurt. No criminality is suspected and no ticket was issued, police said. The Hyundai was impounded for a safety check.
