Cops: Brentwood man found fatally shot in his home

A Brentwood man was found shot to death in his home Wednesday afternoon, Suffolk police said.

Valentino Sanchez, 21, of Pheasant Circle, was discovered dead by his girlfriend in their home at 4:56 p.m., police said.

Suffolk Det. Lt. Jack Fitzpatrick, the homicide squad's commanding officer said, "We're still in the early stages" of the investigation. "We're asking for the public's help."

The girlfriend, who police declined to name, was out shopping during the day, and when she returned home, she found Valentino dead in a rear second floor room of the two story home, Fitzpatrick said.

The couple rented the upstairs section of the house, and the downstairs apartment had no curremt tenant, police said.

No information was released regarding any possible motive for the shooting. Fitzpatrick said.

Valentino and his girlfriend are believed to be unemployed.

Suffolk police asked that anyone with information call the Suffolk police homicide squad at 631-852-6392 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIPS.
