Cops: Cyclist killed in Peconic crash; driver was unlicensed

A 45-year-old man was hit by two cars and killed Sunday night while riding his bicycle in Peconic, Southold Town police said.

The first driver, who was unlicensed, was arrested after the accident, police said.

The victim, Thomas Sicajua-Uya, of Peconic, was crossing Route 48 around 8:15 p.m. when he was hit by John Lukian, 67, of Shelter Island, who was driving westbound.

After being hit by Lukian, Sicajua-Uya was then struck by Jacob Antignano, 21, of Cutchogue, who also was driving westbound on Route 48, police said.

Sicajua-Uya was pronounced dead at the scene, police said, and Lukian was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and for having an expired registration.
