Cops: Driver arrested after chase from Port Jefferson Station to Holtsville

A man who led police on a car chase Sunday night from Port Jefferson Station to Holtsville faces charges of resisting arrest, unlawfully fleeing and drunken driving, Suffolk County police said.

Police tried to pull over Robert Schuch, 50, of Port Jefferson Station, on a traffic violation at Patchogue Road and Route 347 Sunday night, police said.

Schuch drove off and led patrol cars to the driveway of the Brookhaven Ecology Center & Animal Preserve in Holtsville before he stopped at 11:51 p.m., police said.

Police did not say how fast cars were going in the chase, which covered about 11 miles.

Schuch, of Pacific Street, is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges at First District Court in Central Islip.
