Suffolk County police are looking for a driver who fled the scene of an early morning crash in West Islip, leaving his two passengers injured in the vehicle.

The driver, a man whose identity is still unknown, struck a pole on Union Boulevard just west of Higbie Lane about 2 a.m., police said. He fled the scene on foot after the crash, police said.

Inside his 2008 Acura were two female passengers, one in the front seat and another in the backseat.

Police said the woman in the front seat appeared to be seriously injured while the woman in the backseat seemed to have suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Both were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, police said.

No other details were immediately available. The investigation is ongoing, police said.
