A man was arrested on drunken-driving charges Saturday night after an accident in which a large MTA vehicle smashed into a home in Baywood, injuring the driver and a person in the home, Suffolk County police said.

The intoxicated driver either cut off or had a minor collision with the MTA vehicle about 8:35 p.m. on Pine Aire Drive near Jackson Avenue, a police spokeswoman said. The MTA vehicle swerved off the road and crashed into the front of the home, according to police.

Police said the drunk driver, who ran from the scene, was arrested a short time later. His name was not released. The occupant of the home and the driver of the MTA vehicle, suffered minor injuries and were taken to a hospital, police said.

Housing officials were inspecting the home to see if it was habitable.
