A Brentwood man was arrested on drunken driving charges Saturday evening after Suffolk police said he crashed his van into another vehicle, which then crashed into an occupied home in Bay Shore.

Trijidio Valle, 30, was driving a 1997 Dodge van north on Taylor Avenue at about 8:35 p.m. when he crossed over into oncoming traffic as he attempted to turn east on Pine Aire Drive, police said.

Valle's van hit a Metropolitan Transit Authority work truck that was driving west on Pine Aire Drive, police said. The impact caused the driver of the work truck to lose control, and the truck smashed into a home at 516 Pine Aire Drive, causing substantial damage, police said.

The MTA driver and one resident of the home received minor injuries and were taken to hospitals for treatment, police said. Islip Town inspectors were called to assess the home.

Valle, who ran from the scene on foot, was found a block away on Jackson Avenue, police said. He was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident and unlicensed operation of a vehicle.

At his arraignment Sunday at First District Court in Central Islip, Valle was released on $5,000 cash bail. He is due back in court on Wednesday.
