Cops: DWI for Flanders teen who fled

A Flanders teen faces charges of driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident and being an unlicensed driver, among other charges, afterhe crashed his car into a tree and fled on foot, police said.

Oscar Ajcuc, 19, was arrested Wednesday by Southampton Town police, who found him following what they described as "a canvass of the area" after responding officers found the car crashed into a tree, but found no driver.

The accident occurred near the intersection of Flanders Road and County Road 105.

Police said the vehicle "left the roadway and struck a tree" and said officers found Ajcuc in "an intoxicated condition."

He was charged with DWI, leaving the scene, being an unlicensed driver, refusal to submit to a chemical test and with failure to maintain his lane.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday at Southampton Town Justice Court.

On Thursday, a 49-year-old woman was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest after police responding to a 911 call stopped her vehicle on Wakeman Road in Hampton Bays.

Southampton Town police said a 911 call reporting "an erratic driver" was received at 1:20 a.m. Responding officers stopped Michelle Intermaggio of Hampton Bays and found her in "an intoxicated condition." When they attempted to place her under arrest police said Intermaggio resisted and had to be subdued.

She was charged with DWI, resisting arrest, refusal to submit to a chemical test and turning without a signal.

She was arrested at 1:50 a.m., held overnight, and was scheduled for arraignment Thursday morning in Southampton Town Justice Court.
