A Central Islip man was drunk early Wednesday when he struck a pedestrian in a parking lot, hit two parked vehicles and then rear-ended another car in traffic as he tried to leave the scene, Suffolk County police said.
Melgar, of 83 Bark Ave., is charged with driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident. He is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Central Islip.
Then he drove off and hit the Toyota before stopping.
The driver of the Toyota, Christopher Ocloo, 23, also of Central Islip, was taken to Southside with minor injuries.
Melgar's car was impounded for a safety check, police said, and an investigation is continuing.
