Cops: Man robs Lake Ronkonkoma bank

A Lake Ronkonkoma bank was robbed Wednesday afternoon by a man with a note demanding cash and threatening violence, police said.

The suspect entered the TD Bank branch at 474 Portion Rd. at 1:32 p.m., and presented the note to a teller, Suffolk police said. The teller gave him cash from the drawer, police said, and he fled the bank, running westbound through the parking lot.

The suspect is 5 feet, 8 inches tall, of medium build, and in his early 40s, police said. He was wearing a dark fleece jacket, dark scarf, hooded sweatshirt, dark baseball hat, sunglasses and dark gloves, police said.

Detectives asked that anyone with information about the robber or the crime call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
