A Ronkonkoma man was arrested Tuesday 35 minutes after he robbed a bank in Lake Ronkonkoma for the second time this year, Suffolk police said.
Police said Daniel Charbonnier, 46, entered the TD Bank at 474 Portion Rd. about 2:25 p.m. Tuesday and demanded cash from the teller, indicating he had a gun. He then fled the bank on foot, heading west on Portion Road.
Witnesses pointed out the suspect to police as they responded to the robbery, and he was taken into custody about 3 p.m.
After further investigation, the Pattern Crimes Unit determined that Charbonnier had robbed the same bank on Jan. 21.
Charbonnier is charged with two counts of third-degree robbery and an outstanding vehicle and traffic warrant. He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Central Islip.
Police said the investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information on this robbery is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
