A Lake Ronkonkoma man was arrested Monday on charges of failing to register his Facebook account with a state sex offender registry.

Michael Iannello, 30, of 103 Dorchester Rd., was arrested in Bay Shore by Suffolk police after failing to report the account to the New York State Sex Offender Registry as required by law, police said in a news release.

Detectives from the Suffolk County Police Computer Crimes Section, in cooperation with the Special Victims Section and the county Probation Department, conducted an investigation that led to Iannello's arrest, police said.

Iannello was convicted of attempt to disseminate indecent material to minors in the first degree in September 2011, according to the registry.

Iannello was charged Monday with sex offender failure to report a change, in violation of New York State Corrections Law. He was being held overnight at the Seventh Precinct and was scheduled for arraignment Tuesday at First District Court in Central Islip.

The investigation is continuing, police said.
