Cops: Son uninjured in crash after mom’s medical episode

An 8-year-old boy escaped injury in a car accident that occurred after his mother suffered a fatal medical episode Thursday evening in front of Lake Grove Village Hall, police said.

Suffolk County police have not released the identity of the woman, but said she was driving when she suffered the “apparent medical event” and her car rolled “at a low speed” across Hawkins Avenue before crashing into a clock pole in front of the Village Hall at 7:30 p.m.

Police said the woman was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital by Ronkonkoma Rescue, but was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The vehicle suffered minor damage in the accident, but police said the boy was not injured.
