A Coram woman and a homeless man were arrested Saturday for burglarizing a Medford assisted living facility and stealing food and cooking equipment, Suffolk County police said.
The suspects, Allison Brown, 44, of West Yaphank Road, and Dwayne Murphy 42, who is homeless, were each charged with burglary. Murphy was also charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, police said.
Brown was arrested at the scene, and Murphy was arrested in Central Islip after fleeing on foot, police said.
Shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday, Suffolk police officers responded to the Hamlet at Medford, on North Ocean Avenue, after receiving a 911 call from an employee who was monitoring security footage. The employee said a man and woman were seen entering a rear door leading into a kitchen and stealing food, including bread, milk and pies, and large commercial metal cookware, police said.
Brown was to be arraigned Saturday in First District Court in Central Islip, and Murphy was expected to be held overnight pending his arraignment scheduled for Sunday in the same court.
