A St. James woman was seriously injured in a crash caused by icy road conditions on Saturday morning in West Hills, Suffolk County police said.

The woman, 23, was driving her 1997 Nissan north on Round Swamp road about 8:15 a.m. when she lost control of the car and collided with a 2012 Jeep driven by a Syosset man, 69, police said.

The woman was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries, police said. The man sustained minor injuries, according to police.

The cause of the accident appeared to be ice on the roadway, police said.
