DA: Suffolk men stole from model homes, car dealerships

Three Suffolk men accused of stealing appliances from model homes and houses under construction, and tires and rims from car dealerships, are scheduled to be arraigned Thursday, authorities said.

Wesley Tyler, 32, of St. James, Tyler McDonald, 19, of Farmingville, and Joseph Clarke, 23, of East Patchogue, have been indicted by a grand jury on burglary, possession of stolen property, auto-stripping and other charges, Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said.

They will be arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip. Their attorneys could not be reached for comment.

"The defendants rented U-Haul trucks to haul the rims and tires and the new appliances they stole during their burglaries," Spota said in a statement.

Officials said the men stole the tires and rims in early 2014. The thefts from model homes, including microwaves, granite countertops, ranges, dishwashers and refrigerators, occurred earlier this year.

Tyler and McDonald are free on bail. Clarke was being held at the Suffolk County jail, officials said.
