Amityville man charged in sale of heroin to undercover cops, police say

An Amityville man was charged Saturday after he agreed to sell heroin to undercover detectives, Nassau County police said.

Darryl Troutman, 29, of 51 Ireland Place met with undercover detectives and "agreed to sell an undetermined amount of heroin," a police news release said. He was placed under arrest without incident at 9:50 p.m. in Massapequa.

The arrest was made by narcotics detectives as part of the Long Island Heroin Initiative, police said.

Troutman is charged with four counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, three counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and one count of third-degree attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance. He will be arraigned on Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead, police said.
