A Dix Hills man was killed Wednesday evening after the car he was driving struck the median on Deer Park Avenue in Dix Hills and he was ejected, police said.
Robert Siegelbaum, 35, of Lamplight Lane, was driving a 1990 Ford Mustang south on Deer Park Avenue at 8:15 p.m. when he lost control of the car and struck the center median just north of Kenmore Street, police said.
The car "flipped over several times," ejecting Siegelbaum, who was not wearing a seatbelt, Suffolk police said.
Siegelbaum was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
A passenger in the vehicle was wearing a seatbelt and survived the crash, police said.
Nicholas Moscardino, 21, of Miller Place, was taken to Good Samaritan with "non-life-threatening injuries," police said.
Siegelbaum and Moscardino were co-workers and were traveling to a convenience store when the crash occurred. Excessive speed played a role, police said.
The investigation into the accident remains ongoing, and police ask that anyone with information regarding the incident call detectives at 631-854-8252.
