Dix Hills woman struck, injured by own car, police say

A Dix Hills woman was seriously injured after she was struck by her own car as it rolled down her driveway Monday afternoon, Suffolk police said.

Second Squad detectives said a passing motorist found Karen Breden, 54, lying in the street on Magnolia Lane near Wolf Hill Road at 2:35 p.m. She was taken to Huntington Hospital by the Dix Hills Fire Department and police said she was admitted in serious condition. She was being treated in the emergency room, hospital officials said.

She was apparently hurt when her 2002 Chrysler minivan rolled down the inclined driveway after she had parked it.

Police said they impounded the minivan for safety checks and that the incident is under investigation. Detectives are asking anyone with information to call Second Squad detectives at 631-854-8252.
