Driver, 77, killed in one-car crash in Coram

A Port Jefferson Station man was killed in a single-car accident Monday morning when his car veered off the road and hit a tree in Coram, Suffolk police said.

Sixth Squad detectives are investigating whether a medical condition played a part in the 6 a.m. crash that claimed the life of John Parietti, 77, police said.

Parietti was driving his 1997 Buick south on Route 112 and hit a tree about 50 feet south of Glenmere Lane in Coram. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the office of the Suffolk County medical examiner.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives ask anyone with information about the accident to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
