Driver, 81, seriously hurt in Manorville crash

An 81-year-old East Moriches man remained hospitalized in serious condition Monday after he was badly hurt in a single-car accident in Manorville, and detectives are seeking anyone who witnessed the crash.

Martin Fay, 81, was driving his 2002 Pontiac north on County Road 51 shortly after 4 p.m. Friday when he lost control of the car and hit a fence, a utility pole and a tree, police said.

A Suffolk police helicopter took him to Stony Brook University Medical Center where he was admitted in serious condition. As of Monday morning, he remained at Stony Brook, police said.

Fay's vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Detectives ask anyone with information on the accident to call the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
