An 89-year-old woman escaped injury when she crashed her car through the front of a Lemon Tree hair salon in Medford early Thursday morning, police said.

Suffolk County police said the accident occurred at the store, in a strip mall on Route 112, at 8:40 a.m.

Police said the woman told investigators she “thought her Hyundai was in reverse” when she hit the gas.

One employee who was in the salon at the time also escaped injury, police said.

A photo from the scene showed the front end of the car having crashed through a front glass window and cinder block.

Police said a Town of Brookhaven building inspector would determine if there were any structural issues.

The woman was not cited.
