A motorist lost control of a vehicle and drove into the garage on the side of a Shirley home Thursday afternoon, Suffolk police said.

No one was injured in the crash.

Residents of the house at 22 Beacon St. were home at the time of the crash, which caused substantial damage to the home, including the electrical box.

PSEG turned off the power to the house. Firefighters from the Mastic Beach Fire Department and Suffolk officers responded to the scene.

It was unclear how the accident occurred or whether any charges would be filed, but police were investigating.
