Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and detectives from the Vehicular Crime Unit are searching for a white vehicle that struck and killed a pedestrian in Setauket in August.

Police on Thursday issued a news release on the death of Joseph Santiago, who was hit as he walked on Ridgeway Avenue at about 1:20 a.m. Aug. 23.

Santiago, 47, of Ridgeway Avenue, was hit by a white vehicle traveling west on the road, police said. The vehicle, which left the scene, could have sustained damage to its front end or undercarriage on the passenger side.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
