State Police troopers said they responded to a two-car accident at 2:34 p.m. Friday on the westbound side of the parkway near Route 135.
Police said they detected a strong odor of marijuana from one of the drivers, Kasaung Anderson, 39, of Amityville.
Troopers said they then found three small bags of marijuana, 47 grams of heroin and five small plastic bags with decks of heroin, in addition to drug paraphernalia, including hypodermic needles. Anderson was also carrying $11,183 in cash, police said.
He is charged with two counts of third-degree and criminal possession of a controlled substance, three counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, possession of a hypodermic instrument and three counts of unlawful possession of marijuana, police said.
There were minor injuries to the occupants in the other car in the crash, Station Commander Sgt. William Fennelli said.
