Torres, 23, of Ronkonkoma, had been driving east and turning left onto Route 111, authorities said.

Elizabeth Gilmartin, John Gilmartin's mother, was injured and transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, where she died Monday, police said.

John Gilmartin, 51, of Smithtown, and Torres were also transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
