Federal government helicopter lands on Sayville street

A pilot landed a helicopter on Browns River Road in Sayville on Wednesday evening over concerns with the weather, Suffolk police said. Records show the helicopter is owned by the federal government.

The pilot touched down about 5:38 p.m. He had one passenger aboard, police said.

The road he landed on is not heavily populated, and police said there were no injuries.

Online records maintained by the Federal Aviation Administration show the helicopter, an American Eurocopter Corp. model AS350B3, is owned by the Department of Homeland Security.
