Firefighters responded to a blaze at a two-story home on Whitson Road in Huntington Station shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday, officials said.

On arrival, firefighters found the home's garage ablaze. In addition to Huntington Manor Fire Department, departments from Huntington and Greenlawn also were at the scene, officials said.

It took nearly three hours, officials said, to control the fire.

Huntington Manor Chief Francis McQuade said the family living in the home was outside when firefighters arrived and that there were no injuries, but the home is not habitable.

"I would say extensive damage to the house," McQuade said, "smoke and water damage, too."

McQuade said he did not know how many people the fire displaced. The cause of the blaze is under investigation, he said.
