Man hospitalized after hit by falling Sheetrock, cops say

A man who was injured when a stack of Sheetrock fell on him at an East Hampton warehouse remained hospitalized in critical condition Saturday, police said.

George J. Lombardi, 75, of East Hampton, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital after the 10:28 a.m. industrial accident Friday at Riverhead Building Supply's storage supply yard, 1 Cove Hollow Rd., East Hampton, police said.

East Hampton Town police are investigating.

Riverhead Building Supply president John Callahan said Friday that a customer was injured by falling Sheetrock, which was stacked in the warehouse. The customer was accompanied by an employee, who was not injured, Callahan said.

The company is cooperating with the police investigation, he said.
