Girl, 17, collapses at Babylon lacrosse practice

A teenage girl standing on the sidelines during a lacrosse practice Monday at a Babylon school field collapsed and went into cardiac arrest, police said.

The 17-year-old was taken by ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, police said. Information concerning her condition was not immediately available Monday night.

The teenager first complained at about 4:30 p.m. of not feeling well while on a field at Babylon Elementary School, police said.

She told someone nearby that she had a headache, police said, shortly before collapsing and going into cardiac arrest.

She was taken by the Babylon Rescue ambulance to the hospital, police said.

Babylon school district officials declined to comment. There was no information released as to whether she had been a participant in the lacrosse practice.
