A Greenlawn man who fell asleep at the wheel Sunday had to be cut free from his car after crashing into two cars parked in a Huntington Station lot, police and fire officials said.

Rescue workers from the Huntington Manor Fire Department used hydraulic cutting tools to free the driver after the crash at about 11 p.m., according to a department spokesman.

No charges are pending against the man, 21, who was driving a 2005 Dodge Neon, Suffolk County police said.

A police department spokeswoman Monday said the man apparently fell asleep while driving.

He was taken to an area hospital for treatment of back pain, police said.

The crash started a chain reaction of sorts, with the two parked cars in the lot of Advance Auto, 930 E. Jericho Tpke., hitting a fence and then two trailers parked in an adjacent lot, police said.

One of the trailers then hit another car parked in the lot.
