East Hampton Town police said Tuesday they are looking for a suspect in a string of commercial burglaries on Montauk Highway.

Police released photographs of the suspect and his vehicle, a white or light-colored pickup truck, taken from video surveillance.

Between 12:02 a.m. and 1:06 a.m. Saturday, the suspect burglarized five businesses and tried to break into another, said Capt. Chris Anderson.

Police said the suspect smashed in the front glass door in each location and took cash, coins and cash registers.

Anderson said the time frame is based on surveillance video from the businesses that were burglarized. "He was in and out quick," Anderson said.

The suspect was able to break into Calvo's Deli, 460 Montauk Hwy., East Hampton; Chiquita Latina, a grocery store, 480 Montauk Hwy., East Hampton; Franey Wine & Spirits, 459 Montauk Hwy., East Hampton; La Capaninna, an Italian restaurant, 364 Montauk Hwy., Wainscott; and Wainscott Main Wines & Spirits, 354 Montauk Hwy., Wainscott.

Anderson said the suspect also tried to break into Twice Upon a Bagel, 358 Montauk Hwy., Wainscott, but was unable to get inside.

The burglar wore black boots, blue jeans and a green hooded sweatshirt.

His truck was seen fleeing the Wainscott area "in a westerly direction," the release said.
