Islip Town will begin recording its town board meetings for broadcast on a Cablevision government-access channel beginning next month, town officials said.
The recordings will start with the March 2 board meeting; officials said the videos will be broadcast beginning the following week.
The arrangement calls for the videos to be broadcast on Channel 18 six days a week: at 4 p.m. on Saturdays, Mondays and Tuesdays and at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
The videos will continue to be shown until the board's next meeting.
Islip will use recording equipment purchased with public access grants from Cablevision and Verizon negotiated in franchise agreements in 2007 and 2008.
Islip purchased the recording equipment for $26,000 last year to launch a public access television show called "Spotlight Islip," and this year also began posting videos on the town's Web site.
