Visitor from Ireland charged in Selden with DWI, had two kids in car, police say

James O'Connor was driving a 2012 Volkswagen Passat westbound on Middle Country Road in Selden when he was pulled over about 3:30 a.m. Sunday by an officer from the Sixth Precinct for failing to maintain his lane, police said.

O'Connor's daughter, 5, and son, 8 months, were in the car with him, police said.

He was charged under Leandra's Law with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger 15 years old or younger, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. He was also issued three summonses for vehicle and traffic violations.

O'Connor is to be arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Central Islip.
