A Centereach woman was charged with driving while high on drugs after she fled from a police officer and crashed into a fence in Bay Shore on Tuesday afternoon, Suffolk County police said.

Police said Third Precinct Officer Craig Knudsen tried to pull over Jennifer Jordan, 25, in a 2010 Volkswagen at Manor Lane and Bay Shore Road about 1:35 p.m. Jordan fled from the officer and drove about half a mile southwest, where she crashed through a fence on the side of the road at Sunrise Highway South Service Road near Howells Road in Bay Shore, police said.

Jordan was arrested about a quarter-mile from the crash site at Howells Road and Richland Boulevard in Bay Shore, police said. Jordan, of 2 Bonnybill Dr., was not hurt and there were no passengers in her car, police said.

Jordan was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, driving while ability impaired by drugs, unlawfully fleeing a police officer and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

She is being held at the Fourth Precinct in Hauppauge and is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Central Islip.
