John Auteri, 48, of Medford, was charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle on Sept. 25, 2014.

A motorist in Medford was stopped Thursday by a patrol officer for failing to signal before turning into a parking lot, but he was arrested because he was driving on a license that has been suspended or revoked 49 times, Suffolk County police said.

John Auteri, 48, of Medford, was pulled over just before 10 a.m. as he turned off into the lot at 580 Route 112, police said.

Fifth Precinct Officer Paul Rocchio noticed the failure to signal, then found out Auteri was driving on a license that had been suspended or revoked on at least 20 different days dating back to 1986, police said.

Auteri, of Pitchpine Place, was charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He was being held for arraignment Friday at First District Court in Central Islip.
