Joseph Lozada, of Babylon, hit, killed by car, police say

A Babylon man was struck by a car and killed in a pedestrian accident early Tuesday in North Babylon, police said.

Joseph Lozada, 19, was struck as he walked on Route 231 at 3:53 a.m., Suffolk County police said.

There was no criminality involved, and the driver remained at the scene near Pell Avenue, police said.

Police said the victim was struck by a southbound 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by John Farina, 59, of Cape Coral, Florida. He was not injured. His Jeep was impounded for a safety check.

The accident happened just south of the Southern State Parkway.

Police are asking anyone with information about this crash to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
