A Riverhead man was arrested Monday after police said he shut off the power to an allergy clinic in Riverhead, then attempted to break in.

Joseph Reiter Jr., 37, of Riverhead, was arrested near the scene and charged with third-degree attempted trespass, Riverhead Town police said.

Police said he was found attempting to leave the scene by canine units.

Police said officers responded to the East End Allergy and Asthma Care on Old Country Road near Osborn Avenue after a call that power was out at the location. Officers found the electricity had been turned off manually -- and discovered screens covering windows at the rear of the building had been removed.

Search dogs then found Reiter, police said.

Reiter also had an active warrant when arrested, but police did not provide details.

The clinic specializes in allergy treatments, including allergies to meat and tick bites, according to its website.
