Cops: Great River man dies in one-vehicle crash

A 27-year-old Great River man was killed Friday night when his 2007 Toyota crashed into a concrete wall at Sunrise Highway and Hospital Road in East Patchogue, Suffolk police said.

Justin Fonseca was driving westbound on Sunrise Highway at 11:30 p.m. when his vehicle left the roadway, west of the Hospital Road off-ramp, and crashed into a concrete abutment that supports the Hospital Road overpass, police said.

Fonseca was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. The Toyota was impounded for a safety check.

Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information about it to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
