Suffolk County police want the public's help in finding a mother accused of abducting her son instead of turning him over to county child protective services.

Kristin Kapp, 43, and her 5-year-old son, Sebastian Parsons-Kapp, had been living in Stony Brook, and investigators believe they are still in the state, perhaps in New York City, police said.

When she flouted a court order by not handing her son to county authorities, a Family Court warrant for child neglect was issued April 27, police said.

The boy's father, who previously had an order of protection that barred him from contact with his son, reported him missing on Tuesday, police said.

Anyone with information may call 911 or Sixth Precinct detectives at 631-854-8652.
