Lawmakers share friendly elevator ride

It was an elevator moment: Thursday, hours after Suffolk Comptroller Joseph Sawicki blasted County Executive Steve Levy's process for selling or leasing the county nursing home, the two happened to board an elevator in the H. Lee Dennison building in Hauppauge. "It was polite and cordial," said Levy spokesman Mark Smith, who added the comptroller - a potential Levy GOP primary rival - put his arm around the county executive for a hug, which Smith photographed. "I had to do Henry's job," said Smith, referring to Levy's ex-photographer, who retired and whom Levy tried to replace - only to be blocked by Sawicki, who cited planned nursing home layoffs.
