A man crossing Jericho Turnpike at Oakwood Road in Huntington Station was struck by a car and seriously injured Wednesday at 9 p.m., police said.

The identity of the pedestrian, 20, was being withheld by Suffolk County police pending notification of next of kin.

Police said the man was taken to Huntington Hospital by Huntington Community First Aid Squad Ambulance and later was transferred to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset — suffering from what police called “serious head injuries.”

His condition was not immediately known.

Police said the man was crossing Jericho Turnpike when he was struck by a 2007 Lexus being driven east by Gerard Marrone, 42, of Huntington Station. Marrone, who was not charged, was taken to Huntington Hospital with minor injuries.

The car was impounded for safety checks and Second Squad detectives are continuing their investigation, police said.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call investigators at 631-854-8252. All calls will remain confidential.
