Suffolk County police detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting of a Northport man who was found lying in the street in Greenlawn early Sunday morning, officials said.

Police officers responded to the area of Stuyvesant Street between Crown Avenue and Brand Drive after a 911 caller reported a shooting at 12:01 a.m. When officers arrived, they discovered Aaron Jolly, 18, lying in the street with a gunshot wound to his right leg.

Jolly was shot by an unknown person while he was standing in the street, police said. He was taken to Huntington Hospital where he was treated and released.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All call will be kept confidential.
