A Mastic man was seriously injured Monday morning in Coram when the motorcycle he was riding was struck by a taxi that failed to stop at a traffic light, Suffolk County Police said.

Jack Monti, 49, was on a 2004 Honda motorcycle, traveling north on Route 112, when at about 7:05 a.m. he was struck by a 2009 Ford Crown Victoria traveling east on Middle Country Road, police said.

Monti was admitted to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious leg injuries, police said.

Mindy Shaw, 43, of Centereach, the driver of the Ford owned and operated by Lindy’s Taxi, was alone in the vehicle and was not injured, police said. She was issued a summons for failing to stop at a red light.

Route 112 and Middle Country Road were reopened just before noon Monday after police closed the intersection. Sixth Squad detectives are investigating the crash, police said, and both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
