Police: Ronkonkoma man drove drunk, crashed on the LIE with 2 daughters in car

A Ronkonkoma man was arrested and charged with drunken driving after crashing his car Friday night on the Long Island Expressway with his 9- and 11-year-old daughters in the vehicle, Suffolk County police said.

Mauricio Zamora, 40, crashed his 2014 Honda Accord into the median between exits 52 and 51 in Dix Hills at 10:24 p.m., police said.

The daughters were treated for minor injuries at Huntington Hospital and released into the custody of their mother, police said.

Zamora was not injured.

He was to be arraigned Saturday at First District Court in Central Islip on two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, driving while intoxicated and aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child 15 years old or younger, also known as Leandra's Law.
