Suffolk County police detectives are investigating a bank robbery that occurred Saturday at the Astoria Federal Savings Bank branch in Medford.
About 10:15 a.m., a man entered the bank, at 2775 Rte. 112, and handed the teller a note demanding cash and threatening the use of a weapon, police said.
The teller complied, giving the robber cash from the drawer, police said, and the man fled the bank on foot.
The robber was described as a man in his 30s with a heavy build and about 5-foot-10 with a goatee. He was wearing a black baseball cap with safety goggles on top, a black long-sleeve shirt and a white glove with a red palm on his right hand, police said.
