A family and their seven dogs managed to safely escape their burning Medford home early Wednesday evening, Suffolk County police and fire officials said.

Family members were so relieved to have gotten out safe and sound that they even posed for a group photo with the rescued dogs afterward.

Police said the fire at the home on Southaven Avenue was reported in a 911 call received at 8:17 p.m.

Firefighters from Medford, Farmingville, Hagerman and North Patchogue all responded, as did a crew from Medford Ambulance. Police said there were no injuries.

The house was damaged and the cause of the blaze is under investigation by police Arson Squad detectives and the Brookhaven Town Fire Marshal.

Police said the fire does not appear to be suspicious.
