A second public meeting has been scheduled to discuss Suffolk County’s plans for a 10-mile walking and biking path from Port Jefferson to Wading River.

The forum is scheduled for 6 p.m. on March 28 at Shoreham-Wading River High School, 250A Route 25A, Shoreham. Another meeting was held Thursday in Miller Place.

County officials are developing plans for a trail along an abandoned Long Island Rail Road right-of-way, currently owned by the Long Island Power Authority. The trail, which would run parallel to Route 25A, would go through Port Jefferson Station, Mount Sinai, Miller Place, Sound Beach,

Rocky Point, Shoreham and East Shoreham.
The March 28 meeting will be held in an “open house” style, with maps displaying the proposed trail. Police and county Department of Public Works officials will be available to answer questions.

For information, call the office of Legis. Sarah Anker (D-Mount Sinai) at 631-854-1600.
